Cape Town – South African singer, Dr Malinga has given an update on the monetary donations he has received since his emotional call for help on the Podcast and Chill last week.
This is after he was rumoured to have received a generous donation of R500 000 from grammy award-winning DJ Black Coffee.
Fans of the Hangover hitmaker and celebrities came to his rescue after he broke down when he opened up about his financial woes on the podcast.
Dr Malinga was in tears, as he revealed that he owed the South African Revenue Services (Sars) R2 million, which led to the repossession and auction of his furniture.
Shortly after, fans and celebrities rallied behind the singer and made monetary donations to his bank account.

One of the first celebrities to come to the singer’s rescue was Makhadzi, who invited Dr Malinga to perform at her upcoming one-woman show.
Giving an update on the Podcast and Chill, Malinga said he has been touched by people’s generosity and appreciates every little bit of help he gets.
He said that Black Coffee sent him R20 000 while BI Phakathi sent him R10 000, but the donation that touched him the most was that of R10 from an unknown donator.
“People are donating money. There’s an amount that touched me so much, only R10 came to my account with a reference ‘God bless you my brother’ … People are blessing me, I’m just overwhelmed… we are reaching 100 000 now,” said the singer in the call with the podcast.
