London – As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returned to Buckingham palace to show their respects for the late Queen Elizabeth II, tweeps took to social media to voice their thoughts about the American Duchess of Sussex.
According to Town and Country magazine, Prince Harry and Meghan travelled to the UK last week to attend charity events, but cut their work short to return to Balmoral when they heard of the Queen’s deteriorated health.
Amidst their return, mourning and public appearances, Twitter exploded with the #GoHomeMeghanMarkle trend. This came after Harry and Meghan’s decision in January 2020 to relieve themselves from their royal duties and to relocate overseas.

A report from the US Weekly magazine included an excerpt from a statement released by the Palace in 2016 where Prince Harry’s concerns for Meghan’s safety were highlighted,
“Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm.”
Despite Prince Harry’s wishes, Meghan is still the subject of social media storms.

Despite all the tweets against Meghan, the trend has shown that the Duchess has her share of public support.
