Cape Town – Police in Gauteng have released the identity of the suspect accused of multiple cases of arson, murder, and burglary in the East and North parts of Johannesburg.
Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello said in a statement that in all incidents, the suspect, Sentious Novans, would break in at affluent houses and after stealing property, set the houses alight.
He was previously sentenced to seven years of which four years were suspended for five years, said Sello.
Earlier this year, several cases of arson were reported in which a lone arsonist was said to be torching residents’ homes in Johannesburg’s upmarket suburbs of Hyde Park, Dunkeld, and Illovo after breaking in.
