Cape Town – South African media personality, Sol Phenduka has spoken out about his “on-air drama” with Dineo on Kaya FM’s morning show.
This comes after he topped the Twitter trends recently after allegations of his “abuse” by his co-host, former Metro FM DJ, Dineo Ranaka on their breakfast show.
Tweeps slammed Dineo for “belittling” and “speaking over Sol” on a number of occasions during their morning show.
One of the concerned listeners wrote an open letter to the station and described Dineo’s alleged behaviour as “unacceptable and toxic”.
In a video that circulated on social media, Sol could be seen raising his hand at least twice in an attempt to speak.
The radio station intervened, saying that there was no disharmony between Dineo and Sol and, as Dineo was the main anchor of the show whilst Sol was the co-anchor, Times Live reported.
“Structure of 959 Breakfast is that Dineo Ranaka is the main anchor and Sol Phenduka the co-host and traffic reporter… We have full confidence in both Dineo and Sol’s talent and their ability to navigate the dynamic of the show,” said Kaya 959 managing director Sibongile Mtyali, as quoted by the report.

Sol addressed the issue for the first time in a recent sit-down on the podcast Nkululeko n Cultr, saying that he understood people’s concerns and where they came from.
“It tells me it comes from people who want the show to work, they want the show to be a success. It’s a new show, all things have been considered, all feedback is welcome about this and everything else, but like I always say, people should give the show time and also I’ve been off radio … 90% of it comes out of a place of concern,” said Sol.
