Cape Town – A wanted suspect was fatally wounded during a shootout with the police after he was cornered at a hideout house on Sunday night.
The 28-year-old man was wanted for business robbery, carrying an unlicensed firearm and attempted murder, police said in a statement.
On July 9, the suspect and four other men allegedly robbed a business at Kwanyanda Reserve and had been on the run since, said KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Thenjiswa Ngcobo.
The suspects demanded cash and airtime vouchers, and a victim was stabbed before they fled the scene, said Ngcobo.
A case of robbery and attempted murder was reported at Esikhaleni police station.
They had been on the run, until the police received information about the suspect on August 7, said Ngcobo.
