Cape Town – One SA leader Mmusi Maimane was reportedly robbed by armed men at a bar on Wednesday night, just a few days after he shared his thoughts on crime in South Africa.
Maimane recently claimed that police minister, Bheki Cele had failed to keep South African citizens safe, following a spate of tavern shootings that claimed scores of lives across the country.
EWN reported on Thursday that that the politician was among patrons who were robbed at a Cape Town bar on Wednesday.
The report said Maimane was left traumatised after three gunmen stormed the bar and demanded that patrons lie on the ground and started robbing them one by one.
Maimane was hosting his brother-in-law when the robbery took place, the report said.

“Three gunmen came into the store. They put everybody down and went table to table and collected items from various tables and held up the management,” the report quoted Maimane as saying.
He said the police and private security companies attended to the scene promptly and no one was injured during the robbery.
“People who were in the restaurant were equally traumatised and so everyone had to give statements. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Some of the items were left on the side of the road as the chase went through,” he was quoted as saying.
