‘We gave over raw images at the request of our client,’ says photographer accused of ‘ruining major event’

Cape Town – South African photographer Ratshi Netshiswinzhe has been accused of ruining an event with a series of blurred and over-exposed images.

According to The South African, Ratshi was hired for a glitzy event in Johannesburg by Nonhle Mgwaba, the content director for reality TV productions in South Africa.

Hundreds of people attended the event. However, not everything went as planned.

Ratshi was accused of inappropriate behaviour at the event.

When he arrived, he allegedly set up his hubbly pipe and proceeded to help himself in an open bar.

To top it all off, he is said to have taken blurry pictures.

Nonhle posted the photos on Twitter and warned people not to hire Ratshi.

“please don’t ever book @/BahamasGallery on IG, after arriving at my event, setting up his hubbly and drinking from the open bar and ended up being rude to my boyfriend when he was outed for taking blurry pictures. how do you take 4 different pictures and they all look like this,” Nonhle wrote in tweet.

Ratshi, on the other hand, issued a statement on Instagram saying that he agreed to something he shouldn’t have and sent Nonhle unedited photos due to her pressing need.

Ratshi also shared clear and edited snaps he took from the event.

“Having been made aware of the allegations against our homegrown brand, we feel it necessary to address it as we are still so young in the industry and we are looking forward to being a household name in South Africa’s media landscape. We, unfortunately, agreed to something we shouldn’t have, as a policy, we only sent the edited quality they’ve seen, ordered, paid and agreed to.

“We gave over the raw images at the request of our client because we empathised with her urgency and the demands of social media culture. Afraid to disappoint, we sent all 300 raw images, of which some were blurry, which is expected from any photographer, even though we agreed on only 50 edited pictures,” wrote Ratshi in a statement.
