Cape Town – The Pretoria Magistrate’s Court this week reportedly sentenced a 36-year-old man to life imprisonment for the rape of his nine-year-old stepdaughter.
The case was open when a pastor prophesied the incident to the mother and daughter during a church service, reports said.
According to TimesLive, it was January 2019 when the pastor made the prophecy.
Following the church service, the mother asked her daughter about it and she confirmed the pastor’s prophecy, saying that the stepfather had raped her for over a year whenever she worked at night.
The report said the mother then confronted the 36-year-old stepfather who denied the accusations.

“The following morning both the mother and the [stepfather] took the child to a doctor at Laudium Hospital where the child was examined and it was discovered that indeed she had been sexually assaulted. After the child spoke to social workers, police were called and the 36-year-old was arrested. He has been in custody since the NPA successfully opposed bail,” the report quoted National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Lumka Mahanjana.
During the court proceedings, state prosecutor Tumi Phongola asked the court to consider the fact that the perpetrator took advantage the child and threatened her life if she reported the rape, reported The South African.
The report said Magistrate Mthimunye was in agreement with the state and handed the perpetrator life imprisonment.
