Cape Town – Controversial singer Kelly Khumalo had Mzansi split after she claimed that former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa was a nobody before she dated him.
She said this during a recent interview on eNCA, where she tried to explain that she had nothing to gain from Meyiwa’s death.
The multi-platinum-selling musician claimed in a bold statement that “Nobody knew who Senzo Meyiwa was until he was attached to the brand ‘Kelly Khumalo’.”
In the presence of her lawyer, lawyer Magdelene Moonsamy, Kelly also spoke about how she felt the justice system had failed her in light of the ongoing murder trial of the late Meyiwa.
Meyiwa was shot dead at the singer’s home in Vosloorus, Gauteng in October 2014.
In 2020, five suspects were arrested and charged with murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
In her interview, the singer, who was spotted with bodyguards, alleged that the police had failed to protect her from death threats she had been receiving amid the controversial trial.

”We have a problem in our country and this is not just about Kelly Khumalo, the musician. This is about an individual in the pits and darkest place of wherever it is, where they lose loved ones and justice is not served.
“I think the lowest point for me is being let down by the law. As a SA citizen I trust and believe in the law to protect not just me, but my family and our society. But with what has happened to me, I have had my life threatened and family threatened, not once, but multiple times. And I feel like the law is not coming into place to protect and make me feel like that it is within my right to have protection for myself and family,” said Kelly.
Although she passed some of the questions to her lawyer and referred the journalist conducting the interview to her TV show, Life With Kelly Khumalo, she said she couldn’t wait for her day in court.
