Cape Town – South African media personality Somizi Mhlongo has said that Beyoncé’s latest single Break My Soul is not much of a great song.
According to Times Live, Twitter was abuzz when Beyoncé released the single on Monday.
However, not everyone liked the song, including Somizi who took to Instagram and shared his opinion, saying that he was not really feeling it.
“I listened to the song twice, but with me is that I also have an artistic ear. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of Beyoncé. Before she even sang I picked up a South African feel and not just a current South African feel. I felt a song that could have been composed by Arthur Mafukade featuring Yaya, Mdu Masilela featuring Sharon D way back in the 90s. That’s the sound I heard. I was like okay, there’s a South African feel to this.

“Then Beyoncé came and I was like no, this is not it. I wasn’t feeling it, but I gave it another chance and played it for the second time. It felt different and again what I picked up from this song was that it is really not much of a great song, because for me, a hit most of the time catches you immediately, but sometimes other hits grow on you,” said Somizi.
