Cape Town – A man was arrested by Law Enforcement Advancement Plan (LEAP) Reaction Unit after he attempted to steal a paramedic’s vehicle in Table View, Cape Town on Saturday.
According to Times Live, the paramedics were called to an accident scene.
On arrival, they found a man and attended to him before he was questioned by police.
“Immediately after the questioning he jumped into the response vehicle and fled the scene whilst the medic was still at the rear of the vehicle flagging down oncoming traffic,” said Community Medics as quoted by the report.
An emergency broadcast was issued in response to the incident.
IOL reported that the LEAP Reaction Unit members who were doing their prevention duties on Prince George Drive in Steenberg identified the car and pursued it. They caught up with the vehicle and blocked it off in Muizenberg.

“The occupant was then placed under arrest for possession of stolen property, driving while under the influence, reckless and negligent driving and resisting arrest. The suspect was then transported and handed over to Milnerton SAPS for further investigation and prosecution,” the report quoted the City as saying.
