Cape Town – A woman, who was charged with the murder of South African musician Nkululeko “Flabba” Habedi, was reportedly released on parole on Monday.
Sindisiwe Manqele was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment after she stabbed Flabba who was her boyfriend at the time in the chest at his Alexandra home in Gauteng in 2015, according to IOL.
Sindisiwe said that she was acting in self-defence from Flabba who had pinned her on the bed and choked her in the process.
After serving half of her sentence, Sindisiwe was released on parole.
The department of correctional services said in a statement that Sindisiwe had fulfilled a list of requirements needed for consideration of early release from the prison.
As such it has decided to place her on parole effective from May 24.

“The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) is able to confirm that Ms Sindisiwe Precious Manqele has been placed on parole, effectively from 24 May, 2022.
“The decision was taken by the correctional supervision and parole board (CSPB) having assessed Manqele’s profile as submitted by the case, a management committee and other materials presented for the purposes of parole consideration,” said the department.
The parole did not mean Sindisiwe was free.
“She still has to comply with a specific set of conditions and will be subject to supervision until her sentence expires on 23 May 2028,” said the department.
