According to reports by Times Live the airline is no stranger to bargain tickets, having introduced its first mega sale’ in 2015 with 30 000 tickets selling for R1 per ticket, and then again in 2016 with 15 000 tickets selling for R2 per ticket.
The’mega sale’ increased slightly in 2018, selling 30 000 tickets at R4 each and 45 000 tickets at R5 in 2019.
The’mega sale’ is expected to boost South African travel, which had suffered as a result of the COVID-19 restrictions, which included a travel ban.
Many South Africans took to Twitter with excitement to thank the airline while some are still waiting patiently to land the cheapest tickets.
