According to the inaugural Ashish J. Thakkar Global Entrepreneurship Index (which measures entrepreneurial environments around the world), Namibia is Africa’s top-performing country overall. The index assesses 85 countries against criteria such as policy, infrastructure, education and finance.
In terms of finance, Zambia, South Africa and Rwanda are the continent’s leaders while Rwanda scored well with regard to policy, thanks to credit being easily available and high business transparency.
Namibia and Botswana also achieved strong scores in the education category – most likely as result of both countries having made education a national priority.
