Cape Town – South African rapper AKA, real name Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, has taken to social media to pay tribute to his late fiancée Anele “Nellie” Tembe.
Nellie died in the early hours of April 11, 2021, at the age of 22. She fell from the tenth floor of the Pepper Club Hotel in Cape Town.
“I’ll remember this day for the rest of my life. 11/04/2021. Everyday I pray for the healing of your family and my family. I hope one day we can all come together and pay our respects to you and your memory at the same place and at the same time,” wrote AKA in a tweet.

According to The South African, AKA first publicly announced his romantic relationship with Nellie in January 2020.
In February 2021, the Fela in Versace hitmaker surprised his fans and announce his engagement to her. The following month he paid lobola (bride price) for her.

The report added that the two went on a holiday to Cape Town in April, two weeks after AKA paid the bride price. During their holiday, the tragedy of Nellie’s death took place, leaving AKA devastated and in the public eye.
