Cape Town – Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader has denied allegations that he is behind the arrest of Operation Dudula leader Nhlanhla “Lux” Dlamini.
Dlamnini was arrested last week on Thursday shortly after leaving the Kaya FM studios where he had been interviewed.
His arrest came after a case was opened against him by Soweto resident, Victor Ramerafe, 59, whose home was allegedly ransacked by members of Operation Dudula.
He has been detained at the Johannesburg Central police station and was expected to appear in the Roodepoort magistrate’s court on Monday.
Dlamini accused Malema of being “jealous” of the progress made by his movement and said that he was behind his arrest.

“Julius is actually jealous of our relationship with the police, that’s why he is encouraging for the police to arrest us instead of working with us. That’s why there’s a narrative that says that ‘even the president is against you’ when the president is not against you. The president invited us as Madudula and civic movements to work together with him but ey hate our progress because our progress is within the boundaries of the law,” said Dlamini.
But Malema, who spoke during an interview with Motsweding FM, rubbished the claims, and said that he did not have time “for small boys”.
According to Times Live, Malema said that the EFF did not open a case against Dlamini but members accompanied Ramerafe to the police station.

“I don’t have time for small boys and I don’t want to waste my time on such useless people.
“As we speak, I am busy at a farm in Limpopo monitoring pregnancy tests of cows. The next thing I hear is I am the one who called for the arrest of Nhlanhla. Where would I be getting such powers to do that?”
“My name is not a playground. When everyone in this country has their own issues, they say it is Malema. If they are crazy, then they must practice their craziness somewhere else. They must not come to me,” the report quoted Malema as saying.
Meanwhile, EWN reported that political parties have denounced attacks on foreign nationals, with the Democratic Alliance’s Angel Khanyile saying that Operation Dudula should leave the checking of foreign nationals to police and the Department of Home Affairs.

“That’s the responsibility of home affairs. The Department of Home Affairs must do its job, it’s their responsibility to identify those who are here illegally and deport those ones who are here illegally,” the report quoted Khanyile as saying.
Activists and various organisations, over the weekend, marched against recent xenophobic attacks and also handed in a memorandum at the Hillbrow police station which called for the Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaled to step down, News24 reported.
The memorandum was first handed to the police at Hillbrow and later at the Johannesburg Central police station, said the report.
