With a population of more than 180 million people, Nigeria is catching up in terms of the shopping mall construction trend that has been sweeping across the continent over the past decade.
The West African nation has in excess of 100 000 m2 of leasable space in Western-style shopping centres and will add another 180 000 m2 by the end of the year, according to an AFKInsider report. One of the major projects is a US$50 million mall, commissioned in Lagos at the end of July.
