Cape Town – A video in which a male school teacher can be seen violently pushing a male pupil while other students are screaming in the background, has gone viral on social media.
The incident reportedly happened at Wessel Maree Secondary School in Odendaalsrus, Free State.
According to The Citizen, the teacher has since been suspended.
It is not clear what prompted the incident.

“We have launched an investigation to look into this unfortunate incident. At this stage, we do not know all the details pertaining to the incident,” the report quoted Education MEC Pule Makgoe in a statement.
Makgoe said once the investigation is complete, the department will shed more light on what transpired.
Makgoe appealed for calm, saying that there were people who could attempt to use the incident to fan racial tensions, News24 reported.
“Our people must guard against such people. We must work together for the good of our learners and must not allow opportunists to drive a wedge between ourselves,” the report quoted him as saying.
