Cape Town – Media24 multimedia journalist Adrian de Kock has dismissed claims that he is exaggerating the assault case against Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) deputy president Floyd Shivambu to make a fortune.
According to IOL, de Kock filed an assault case against Shivambu in 2018 after being “choked and hit in the face”.
When the incident occurred, the two were in Parliament for the former Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille’s disciplinary hearing.
De Kock claimed to have approached Shivambu for a comment, but things went awry and Shivambu pushed him away. Following that, a scuffle erupted between the two.

According to News24, the trial resumed on Wednesday after multiple delays, with de Kock claiming R300 000.
He said that the entire incident and the processes he had to go through were difficult and had wasted a lot of his time.
Shivambu and his lawyer, advocate Laurence Hodes, claimed that de Kock was only interested in profiting from the assault case.
However, de Kock denied these claims and further claimed that he was being discriminated against in the way his case was handled.
“I was made to sit in a room with Julius Malema, Floyd Shivambu and Mbuyiseni Ndlozi [also an EFF MP], and they grilled me in the same room for hours. I had no say; I had no lawyer, no preparation, nothing,” the report quoted de Kock as saying.
Shivambu, on the other hand, said that he believed de Kock was photographing his wife, who was in the car that dropped him off at the precinct, thus his objection to de Kock’s photos.
