Cape Town – South Africa recorded 4 502 new Covid-19 infections on Wednesday after 39 892 tests were conducted, said the National Institute For Communicable Diseases (NICD).
This increase represents a positivity rate of 11.3%.
A further 175 Covid-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 95 463.
“39 892 tests were conducted in the last 24hrs, with 4,502 new cases, representing an 11.3% positivity rate. Today, @HealthZA reports 175 deaths, of which 15 occurred in the past 24-48 hours. Total fatalities are 95,463 to date,” said the NICD in a statement.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases since the start of the pandemic in the country now stands at 3 612 809.
The majority of cases reported in the last 24 hours were from Gautend with 1 472 newly recorded cases, followed by Western Cape (689), and Mpumalanga (540).
