Cape Town – Reality TV star and former South African president Jacob Zuma’s ex-fiancée, Nonkanyiso Conco, better known as ‘LaConco’, has emotionally opened up about her relationship status with Zuma in the latest episode of the Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD).
According to The Citizen, it all started when one of the show’s cast members, Annie Mthembu, questioned LaConco’s relationship status.
“I don’t know if she is who she says she is or who she pretends to be. I don’t know if that makes sense…?,” the report quoted Annie as saying.
LaConco and Zuma allegedly called it quits back in 2019, shortly after their engagement.
Their split was a result of Zuma not completing all the necessary rites and rituals for their relationship and the two-year-old child they shared, The Citizen said in a separate report quoting Daily Sun.

Annie’s question sparked a flurry of inquiries about LaConco’s relationship status from both the show’s castmates and viewers.
Addressing the barrage of questions, LaConco emotionally revealed that “love” disappointed her, as she found herself being a single mother of sorts, relying on her mother to raise her son.
“The position I am in… I found love and I stayed true to that love. Unfortunately, there were people who had an interest in that love and made it a public thing when it was not my intention,” the report quoted LaConco as saying.
She added: “I never fell in love… to be at this situation I am at today.”
LaConco said that the emotional scars she had from how her marriage to Zuma unfolded, were scars that would never heal.
Fans of the show reacted to LaConco’s revelations, with many empathising with her.

I think people are being too hard on LaConco, she is really trying to open up and even though she might have not said much… her body language said a lot. And I’ll take that and sympathize with her ❤️?#RHODurban

People need to understand that protecting umuntu omthandayo even when you no longer together goes a long way and i respect LaConco for that #RHODurban

Everybody views LaC as this aggressive, scary ‘Zulu woman’ like Nonku said however, I’m so happy the producers allowed that narrative to be broken, we are seeing a different side to LaC and I love it!!!! Vulnerability and all!!! #RHODurban

LaC is simply a woman going through a lot in her life right now and as women we shouldn’t be adding to her struggles by dragging her like Annie is doin… Any and woman can go through what she’s going through and it is definitely not a matter to find amusement in #RHODurban pic.twitter.com/UZbbsLg35w
