US$4 000. That’s the amount a group of ICT specialists in Togo have raised in a crowdfunding campaign to support the ongoing construction of mini 3D printers built entirely from e-waste.
Using components from discarded computers, scanners and other electronic devices, WoeLab’s W.Afate 3D printer is set to be central to a project that aims to get the devices into schools throughout the country’s capital, Lomé, according to an AFKInsider report.
WoeLab sources e-waste locally from the Action Sociale pour le Developpement Integral recycling centre.
Founder of WoeLab, Sénamé Agboginou, says: ‘We want to put a 3D printer in every school and cyber café in Lomé.
