Cape Town – South Africa recorded 13 992 new Covid-19 infections, bringing the country’s cumulative number of Covid-19 cases to 3 180 785, the National Department of Health said on Monday.
A total number of 45 101 tests were conducted, with a positivity rate of 31.0%.
The department said 11 deaths were reported, bringing the total to 90 148 deaths since the virus’s outbreak in March last year.
“As of today the cumulative number of #COVID19 cases identified in SA is 3 180 785 with 13 992 new cases reported. Today 11 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 90 148 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 2 913 297 with a recovery rate of 91,7%,” the department said in a statement.

Gauteng continued to lead, with 6 711 new infections, followed by KwaZulu-Natal (2 715) and the Western Cape (1 464).
At the least was the Nothern Cape with 191 new recorded cases.
