Cape Town – The arrival of the remains of Sani Dangote, younger brother of the Chairperson of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, in Nigeria from the United States has reportedly been delayed.
Sani, 61, died on Sunday after a long illness.
His body had been scheduled to arrive in Kano, Nigeria for burial on Tuesday.
A family source, however, said the arrival of his remains had been stalled “due to some documentation needed to be done before a corpse can be transported from one country to the other”, Daily Trust reported.

The source said the body was expected to arrive in the early hours of Wednesday.
“It is clear to us that due to the delay, we are expecting the body to arrive Nigeria in the early hours of Wednesday for burial. The burial arrangement will be announced after its arrival,” the report quoted the source as saying.
According to The Nigerian Xpress, a source close to the family said, “Sani Dangote had been battling colon cancer and he travelled to the US in search of a cure, but as God willed, he died at the age of 61″.

Sani is survived by his aged mother, wife, eight children and brothers and sisters.
Sympathisers have been thronging the Dangote family residence at Koki Quarters in Kano City since the news of his death broke out, a report by Business Hallmark said.
Before his death, Sani had investments in manufacturing, agriculture, banking and oil services.
A report by Punch said that he also sat on the Board of several other companies, including Nigerian Textile Mills Plc, Nutra Sweet Limited, Gum Arabic Limited, Dangote Textile Mills Limited, Alsan Insurance Brokers, Dan-Hydro Company Limited, Dansa Food Processing Company Limited and Dangote Farms Limited.
