Cape Town – M-Net has revealed the plan going forward for the judging panel of Idols SA after media personality Somizi Mhlongo stepped down as one of the judges amid abuse claims against him by his estranged husband Mohale Motaung.
This comes as speculation has remained rife as to who will replace Somizi.
“Idols SA fans should brace themselves for an exciting line-up of celebrities who are set to to add some pizzazz when they join Unathi Nkayi and Randall Abrahams as guest judges every week.

“As the competition now advances to the live auditions with the top 16 contestants left to sing it out for the coveted grand prize, the guest judges will be chosen from the infinite pool of Mzansi’s entertainment industry – who are trailblazers in their respective crafts. The guest judges are going to be announced weekly via the Mzansi Magic social media platforms,” the channel said in a statement shared by entertainment commentators Phil Mphela.
It added: “Their voices are certainly going to add a new flavour to the feedback given to the Idols SA season 17.”
Multichoice released a statement earlier this month indicating that Somizi would be “taking some tine off” until the abuse allegations against him have been dealt with.

Mohale alleged in an audio recording that was leaked recently that Somizi abused him physically and emotionally during their relationship.
He claimed that Somizi broke his ribs and nearly knocked out his two teeth in a jealously-fueled domestic dispute in their Joburg home last year.
According to The Citizen, Somizi has appeared in season 17 of the singing competition at the height of the controversy because all episodes were pre-recorded.
Somizi is also still not back on Metro FM despite indicating his imminent return, the report said.
