Cape Town — Police in Gauteng have confirmed that two armed suspects were fatally shot and wounded, while others sustained injuries during a shootout with police in Lenasia.
In a statement, police said a crime intelligence-led operation, as well as other multi-disciplinary forces, where the alleged suspects were wanted for several ATM bombings and other serious crimes in neighbouring provinces.
“The Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection, Lt General Shadrack Sibiya and other senior officers from the SAPS are currently at the scene and will be addressing the media on any developments on the incident,” police spokesperson Nonkululeko Phokane said.
