Gqeberha — Human rights activist Pamela Mabini was shot and killed outside her home in Tshauka Street in Gqeberha on Friday.
Mabini (46) was found dead inside her white Chevrolet bakkie on Friday, and police spokesperson Sandra Janse van Rensburg said she was shot and killed around 10am, The Herald reported.
Mabini was renowned for her work in the townships and conducted food drives, hygiene products and school supplies to children in need. She started the Maro Foundation, which provided shelter and care to abandoned children and the disabled.

She was also a whistleblower in the rape and trafficking case of Nigerian pastor, Timothy Omotoso, where she provided support to the victims and the family are devastated at their tragic loss, SABC News reported.
“It’s not easy to lose a member of the family, especially in this way. It is very painful. If one can get inside (the house) one can see the sorrow and pain of the people inside,” Mabini’s cousin, Luzuko Gaxamba.
