Cape Town – Anele Mdoda’s appearance at the 97th Academy Awards sparked attention due to a diamond ring on her left hand’s fourth finger, leading to speculation about her relationship status.
The media personality, who co-produced the Oscar-nominated short film The Last Ranger, wore a Xhosa-inspired red and black dress designed by Asanda Madyibi.
Anele shared that it was the most complimented dress at the Oscars and highlighted its significance as the first Xhosa film to be nominated.

“The Last Ranger is the first Xhosa anything to be nominated for an Oscar so I thought it fitting to rock a Xhosa aesthetic.
“Umbhaco is Xhosa traditional wear and as you can see, it’s worldly and most importantly, regal,” she captioned a post on Instagram.

According to Tshisa Live, when asked about the ring during an appearance on Lasizwe Dambuza’s Awkward Dates, Mdoda casually confirmed, “cause I’m married”, fuelling further curiosity among fans.
