Cape Town — It’s been two years since renowned radio DJ and personality Mark Pilgrim passed away after he lost his battle to stage 4 lung cancer as his fiancé Adrienne Watkins paid tribute to him.
Mark sadly lost his life on 5 March 2023 after enduring months of battling his lung cancer. He remained strong throughout the journey and often shared updates of his time in the hospital with his followers.
He was known for his TV presenting gigs, such as hosting seasons one and two of Big Brother, as well as his radio gigs on 5FM, Jacaranda FM, and, at the time of his death, Hot 102.7 FM.
“He fought valiantly to the very end. Mark passed peacefully with his fiancé Adrienne [by his side] at home. They were together for his last breath,” Hot 102.7 FM said after his death.
Two years on and Mark is still sorely missed in the radio industry as well as by his family and Adrienne took the opportunity to pay tribute to him.
“2 years today. Wow. How much I miss you. How much WE miss you. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you. How lucky I was to love and be loved by you. I think of how brave and dignified and strong you were all the way to the very end, my love,” she said.
“Thank you for teaching me what love is and, through our journey, teaching me to embrace this life. For teaching me to be present and to not take one second of it for granted. To live with my whole heart and be intentional with my time and who I share it with, to dream and to be brave with my life. To not be afraid to fall, knowing that even if I do, it’s better to have tried than never to try at all,” she added.
Adrienne planned to commemorate the day by lighting a candle and remembering to live by his wise words as she hoped he was eating his favourite pasta, drinkign red wine and listening to 80s hits.
