Cape Town — Ashleigh Ogle, the ex-girlfriend of former Springbok flyhalf Elton Jantjies has said he has not changed as a person, despite the praise he received from Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie.
Last week, Minister McKenzie praised Jantjies for his contributions to rugby as a coach and encouraged the former player to forget the negative comments and to keep fighting.
“Forget the naysayers. You keep fighting. I’m behind you. Let me know if you need some help. I’m available,” he said.

According to The South African, Ashleigh Ogle and Elton were in a rocky relationship for a few months back in 2023. She alleged that Elton had physically abused her, drugged her and made death threats.
She responded to McKenzie’s comments and said that while she does not agree with his comments about Elton, she praised him for his work as a Minister.
“I 100% believe in forgiveness for one’s peace, but in my ex’s case, he has sadly not changed, and I truly hoped that after our situation, he would,” she said.
She added that she now has a restraining order against the former Springbok and she is now in a much better space.
“But that’s all in the past; I’m on my healing journey and couldn’t be happier that he can’t come 100m near me,” she said.
