Cape Town – Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie has shared a message of encouragement with former Springbok Elton Jantjies, who has faced scandals including a doping ban, an affair, and domestic abuse allegations.
In a video posted on Jantjies’s Instagram, McKenzie praised him for his work in rugby coaching and urged him to ignore critics.
“Congratulations, I am proud of you. I can see what you do for rugby and how hard you work for the Game Changers [Elton’s company].
“Forget the naysayers. You keep fighting. I’m behind you. Let me know if you need some help, I’m available,” the minister said.
Jantjies, who runs The Game Changers, a coaching company, expressed gratitude and reaffirmed his commitment to changing lives through rugby.
“I’ve always wanted to change lives using the form of rugby. That’s what God wants me to do…through being an example and speaking through actions,” he said.
Despite a four-year doping ban issued in 2023, Jantjies insists his professional playing career is not over.
