Cape Town — South African radio personality, Anele Mdoda, revealed her terrifying Uber experience after the driver allegedly threatened to rape her.
Anele took to X where she shared two videos (that she has since deleted) showing her recent Uber experience in the early hours of Monday morning. In the first post, she revealed the driver was upset that she had chosen the “don’t talk to me option.”
“My Uber driver tonight was upset that I had picked the don’t talk to me option. He then said: ‘In my country, we would rape you to teach you a lesson’ and I had to fake being on Instagram Live to get home safe,” she said.
“Then, when he got to my hotel, he started shouting at me, and I really recorded, and this is what ensued, and there was a couple that could see I was under duress. I apologise for my language. I was in danger,” Mdoda alleged.
In the video, Anele can be heard screaming at the driver to repeat what he said.
‘He’s an a**hole, say it again. He threatened me the whole way here. Say it again (x3). I’m recording him on purpose. You threatened me the whole way home,” she said as he drove off.

Anele shared another video to her account where she was pretending to be on Instagram Live in an attempt to fool the driver into thinking her followers could hear what he said.
“Yeah, this is the guy. Shouting, wanting to disrespect Uber rules,” she said before the guy asked her to get out of the car.
So after he threatened me with rape to keep in line I started recording so that if anything happens to me it’s on record. I faked being on Instagram Live.

This morning, Anele thanked her fans for the support shown and she said she would be pressing charges against the driver.
“Thank you for all the comments on this uber saga including the ones that say I am the one in the wrong. I am going to press charges today. Twitter won’t make sure that man does not threaten another woman again. The law will. Have a great day further, because I will,” she wrote.
