Cape Town – The 2025 Budget Speech has been rescheduled, with Speaker Thoko Didiza citing the need for officials to reassess its details.
“In term of rule 48, 2, we have decided to adjourn proceeding for a date to be determined by the programming committee. This is in accordance with rule 10,” Didiza said.

She said that the budget speech will be tabled on March 12, 2025, to allow Treasury more time for finalisation.
She stated that most parties supported the postponement, except for the EFF and MK Party.
“I have listened to the views of all the parties, it is in the interest of all South Africans to postpone to allow Treasury to finalise whatever they need to finalise. As Parliament, we will not compromise our timelines to deal with the budget,” said Didiza.
