Cape Town — Afrikaans civil society organisation, AfriForum, says it is not going anywhere following reports that US President Donald Trump plans to resettle Afrikaners facing racial discrimination.
Trump signed an executive order freezing all aid to South Africa, alleging that land had been seized from white farmers.
He claimed that South African law allows the government to expropriate Afrikaner-owned property without compensation.
As part of his directive, Trump proposed that the US would “promote the resettlement of Afrikaner refugees escaping government-sponsored race-based discrimination.”

According to The Citizen, AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel said on Saturday that while the organisation had taken note of Trump’s order, it remained committed to staying in South Africa. He said that Afrikaners have a future in the country.
“We were formed as a people in Africa and we can only survive as a cultural community on the southern top of Africa,” he said.
Kriel added that the price of leaving South Africa was “too high” and AfriForum planned to meet with the SA and US governemnts to find solutions to the problem. H
“We are here to stay. It might irritate the radical elements that hate us, but we are here to stay.”
AfriForum and Solidarity will be holding a press conference later on Saturday to respond to the order more fully.
