Cape Town — Five men were shot and set alight in Philippi East on Friday night as the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime investigators look to apprehend the suspects.
In a statement, police spokesperson, Brigadier Novela Potelwa, said the deceased where in a vehicle in the Better Life area in Philippi when four armed suspects emerged and shot at the five men while they were in the vehicle.
” The suspects subsequently set the occupants alight. The identities of the deceased persons are yet to be determined with investigators hard at work collecting evidence. The ages of the deceased persons are estimated to be between 20 and 30,” Potelwa said.
The motive for the shooting is currently unknown and an investigation is underway.
Potelwa urged the public to assist in the investigation and to contact Captain Andre Lotter.
