Cape Town – A disturbing video of a woman being rammed into a wall by a car in Cloetesville, Stellenbosch, has gone viral.
The incident, captured on CCTV, occurred just after midnight on January 4, 2025.
The video shows an MK1 Golf reversing at high speed, hitting the woman sitting on a pavement and crashing her through a vibracrete wall.
The driver fled the scene without stopping.
The woman, initially unable to move her lower body, is now recovering at home.
Claims that she had her legs amputated have been dismissed.
Western Cape police confirmed the case as reckless and negligent driving.
“The matter you are referring to is a reckless and negligent driving case registered at Cloetesville police for investigation. The incident occurred on January 4, 2025, at about 12.33am in Sederburg Road in Cloetesville, Stellenbosch. The investigation continues with no arrest as yet,” IOL quoted Western Cape police spokesperson, Captain Frederick van Wyk as saying.
The investigation is ongoing, but no arrests have been made.
The motive for the attack remains unknown.
