Cape Town – An IFP fleet driver assigned to the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) president Velenkosini Hlabisa, tragically lost their life in a single-vehicle accident on Saturday, 11 January 2025.
The crash occurred at approximately 16:30 on the N2 northbound near Stanger in KwaZulu-Natal.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was declared deceased at the scene.
“The circumstances surrounding the accident remain unclear and are currently under investigation,” said IFP national spokesperson Mkhuleko Hlengwa.

He added: “Out of respect for the family’s privacy as they notify other relatives, the name of the deceased will not be disclosed at this time.”
Following the accident, the Hlabisa visited the driver’s family on Saturday evening to personally convey his condolences and share the tragic news.
The party has expressed its deepest sympathies to the bereaved family, saying: “The IFP extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the IFP President, and his security team during this difficult time.”
