Cape Town — Capetonians were treated to an incredible spectacle as international music star, Kaytranada, wowed fans during his performance at the Cape Town Ostrich Ranch this past weekend.
African Insider attended the event and it did not disappoint. We got to enjoy many perks on offer at the event, including VIP and backstage access. The event featured ten opening acts at the main stage, including DJ Kent and Zakes Bantwini, while another six acts performed at the beach stage.
Fans’ excitement grew as more than 8 000 people attended the show and, throughout the night, chanted “KAYTRAA, WE WANNA PARTY!” He played on the crowds’ energy perfectly and interacted with fans who kept the energy high all night long.
He did not disappoint with his performance as he performed some of his biggest hits including Be Your Girl, You’re The One, Intimidated and Witchy.

In an interview with Milk and Cookies, the company said the event was a big milestone and brought its festival to South Africa for the first time. It revealed that Kaytranada was excited to perform in South Africa for the first time.
“From what we’ve heard, he’s genuinely excited. Kaytranada is all about exploring and supporting emerging music scenes, and South Africa’s energy right now is undeniable. He’s really looking forward to making this a memorable experience for both himself and the fans,” it said.
While not too much information could be revealed, Milk and Cookies said it was in talks with more heavy-hitters and some rising stars from South Africa and abroad.

While it was an incredible showcase of music and festival togetherness, there were some issues from the event that were noted by some in attendance.
There were complaints that the size of venue was too small as the main stage could not accommodate all everyone in the designated space, while there was also too little security on hand to handle all the patrons.
The night ended on a sour note as many patrons struggled to leave the festival due to the difficult parking situation at the venue. Organisers were criticised for having too little exits at the venue which meant that most festival goers, myself included, took more than 2 hours to get out of the venue as cars lined up in long queues to get out of the venue.
