Cape Town — Western Cape Police are investigating a double murder after a father and daughter were killed inside their home in Delft on Friday night.
According to Western Cape police spokesperson, Sergeant Wesley Twigg, said Delft police responded to a complaint of a shooting in Leiden in Delft on Friday night. Police discovered that a 42-year-old man and his 19-year-old daughter were killed, IOL reported.
Reports said the victims were at home when they heard gunshots outside the house. The gunmen entered the house and opened fire on the father and daughter, killing them.
“Both victims were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel,” Twigg said.
A 40-year-old female escaped unharmed and Twigg said Delft detectives are currently investigating a murder and attempted murder case.

According to News24, Delft community policing forum (CPF) spokesperson, Jacky Ockhuizen, said the woman escaped due to “quick thinking” in a dangerous situation after she pretended to be dead on the bathroom floor while the gunmen were still in the house.
Ockhuizen said the woman survived despite suffering injuries to her eyes after glass splinters flew into her face when the windows were smashed. The shots were fired through the window to gain access to the locked door.
“We understand that one suspect put his hand through the broken window to open the door and enter the dwelling. Meanwhile, the woman was busy in the bathroom when she heard the shots.
She proceeded to lie on the floor and pretend to be dead. Ockhuzien said the lady’s partner and his daughter, who was visiting from the Eastern Cape, were killed.
“The circumstances regarding this shooting incident are still unknown. The matter is still under investigation, and we trust the police to make arrests soon. The suspects fled the scene, and nothing was taken from the home,” said Ockhuizen.
