Cape Town – Police made a horrific discovery of two decomposed bodies in a house in Ntha, near Lindley, Free State, after neighbours reported a foul smell and noticed flies coming from a window.
On December 31, 2024, at around 22:00, officers responded to a community complaint. Upon investigation, they found the suspect’s vehicle parked outside the house but were unable to gain entry as the suspect refused to unlock the door.
“The police peeped through one of the windows and noticed a decomposed body lying on the floor covered with a blanket and second one of a minor covered under the blanket,” police spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said.

“It was established during preliminary investigations that the bodies could be of a family at Mamafubedu near Petrus Steyn. The mother believed to be parent to the deceased girl alleged that her daughter and granddaughter went to Lindley to visit the father of the child on 22 December 2024. That’s the last time she saw both.”
Mophiring said that both bodies were decomposed beyond recognition.
DNA samples have been collected from the presumed mother of the victims to confirm their identities, and postmortem examinations will determine the cause of death.
The suspect, who was found at the scene, is expected to appear before the Reitz Magistrate’s Court on January 3, 2025, facing charges of murder.
The investigation is ongoing.
