Four people died following a head-on collision on the R61 between Komani and Tarkastad in the Eastern Cape on Monday evening, with the four deceased believed to be related.
In the first accident, a Mercedes-Benz sedan carrying four occupants collided with a truck with two occupants while travelling on the R61 between Komani and Tarkastad in the Eastern Cape. EC Transport Department, Unathi Binqose, said all four who died were travelling in the same car and were believed to be related, TimesLIVE reported.

“It is believed that the deceased was a mother and her three children. They were possibly travelling home ahead of Christmas but their lives were brutally cut short in yet another head-on collision,” Binqose said.
“The Eastern Cape MEC for Transport, Xolile Nqatha has extended his sincere condolences to the families of the deceased. The MEC is calling on all road users to play our role in curbing these carnages on our roads,” Binqose added.
