Durban — Police in Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN) have made a big breakthrough following the arrest of two suspects linked to the attempted murder of Coreth Naudé.
Naude, a former South African Revenue Services (SARS) lawyer, was shot by two gunmen near the entrance of a hotel in Umhlanga, Durban, on 18 July 2024. She arrived at the hotel when she was ambushed by the gunmen, who opened fire at her, a statement read.
She was able to drive inside the hotel where she received urgent medical care before being rushed to the hospital. Police launched an urgent manhunt for the suspects, who had fled the scene in a silver Toyota Corolla.
“The case was assigned to the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime: Murder and Robbery Unit which hit the ground running in search of clues and possible leads,” KZN police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, said.
“Investigations led the investigating team to the Western Cape Province and on Tuesday, 17 December 2024, two suspects, aged 28 and 29 years old were arrested in Mitchells Plain and Milnerton respectively,” he added.
The suspects will appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 23 December 2024 facing a charge of attempted murder.
