Cape Town – Messages of condolences are pouring in on social media following the death of one of South Africa’s most prolific actresses, Michelle Botes, who died on Saturday.
The 62-year-old actress, best known for her role as Cherel De Villiers in the SABC soap opera Isidingo, succumbed to cancer.
Oh Talent Management, the agency representing Botes, announced her passing on social media.
“It was an honour knowing you over this past year. Your commitment to your craft was inspirational. You had a light inside you that was felt by all who were around you. Deepest condolences to your nearest and dearest,” it said on Instagram.
Renowned for her talent in portraying complex characters, particularly villains, Botes left an indelible mark on South African television.
Since news of her passing broke, fans, colleagues, and political leaders have shared heartfelt tributes to honor her legacy.
Beyond Isidingo, Botes also showcased her acting prowess in popular shows like Binnelanders and The Legacy, cementing her reputation as a versatile and celebrated performer.
