Johannesburg – South African police have confiscated R6 million worth of crystal meth hidden inside a wooden snooker pool table at OR Tambo International Airport (ORTIA).
The discovery was part of a crime intelligence-driven operation, with the drugs allegedly intended for export to Australia.
Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, a spokesperson for the South African Police Service (SAPS), confirmed that police were following up on intelligence when they found the drugs at a warehouse at the airport, which serves as a major international hub.

“Police were following up on intelligence when they made the discovery of the drugs which were allegedly destined for Australia.
“Police are following all leads to determine the origin of the drugs in SA, as well as who delivered the consignment for import.
“No arrests have been made and investigations continue,” Mathe said.
