Cape Town – Julius Malema is set to be re-elected unopposed as EFF president for the third consecutive term at the party’s conference this weekend.
However, the absence of his former ally Floyd Shivambu, who left for the MK party, leaves the deputy president position open.
According to reports, Malema is believed to favour Godrich Gardee for the role, though some delegates are pushing for Mbuyiseni Ndlozi to contest.
Ndlozi’s absence from the conference has fueled rumours of a ban, with speculation that he might accept a nomination via letter, Times Live reported.
The EFF conference at Nasrec Expo Centre includes 2,651 voting delegates, 66% of whom are women.
According to EWN, the party leadership has remained tight-lipped, refusing to disclose any information about Ndlozi’s situation despite repeated inquiries.
