Cape Town – President Cyril Ramaphosa has conferred the Order of South Africa, the country’s highest honour, on Angolan President Joao Lourenço in recognition of Angola’s support for South Africa’s liberation struggle.
“The people of South Africa collectively salute President Lourenço on being conferred with this very high honor of the order of South Africa. I congratulate you for being honored in this manner by South Africa,” Ramaphosa said.
Following the ceremony, the two nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding covering areas such as roads, education, and training.
The leaders renewed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, focusing on strategic cooperation and mutual benefit.

President Lourenço proposed holding a bi-national commission next year to further enhance ties.
Both emphasised creating a conducive business environment in their respective countries.
“South Africa looks forward to deepening its ties with Angola in the cause of mutually beneficial growth, continental economic integration and sustainable development,” Ramaphosa said.
