Cape Town – The EFF has been invited to uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party’s first-anniversary rally on December 15 at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium.
However, it remains unclear if the EFF will attend, as relations between the two parties have been strained following the defection of notable EFF members, including Dali Mpofu and Mzwanele Manyi, to the MK party.

MK Secretary-General Floyd Shivambu said during a media briefing on Wednesday that the African Transformation Movement (ATM) has already accepted the invitation.
“When they come, we will give them an opportunity to give a message of support in our first anniversary of uMkhonto weSizwe because these are our strategic friends in terms of the agenda we are in pursuit of,” Shivambu said.
Shivambu also outlined the MK party’s broader plans to unite “black” political parties under a single movement, including the EFF, ahead of the 2026 municipal elections.
