Cape Town – Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus, who led South Africa to consecutive Rugby World Cup victories in 2019 and 2023, reportedly earns £650,000 (about R15 million) annually, according to RUCK.co.uk.
Despite being one of the highest-paid rugby coaches globally, many South Africans believe he deserves a pay increase, especially after being overlooked for World Rugby’s Coach of the Year award.
There has been some disquiet in South Africa following reports @RassieRugby earns the ZAR equivalent of £650,000/year. Given he’s already delivered two RWCs for @Springboks I’d suggest SA Rugby’s ROI is already many multiples of that.

They can give Rassie a million bucks a day, he deserves every cent.
Unlike our politicians who shouldn’t get paid.— Ray (@rayms_84) December 9, 2024
He deserves a further 25% increase in my humble opinion

100%
And it appears that is barely half of what the recently returned skipper is earning!
And less than eddie jones was on at England when they, checks notes , won zero world cups— Brendan Gallagher (@gallagherbren58) December 9, 2024
According to The South African, Erasmus’s salary is funded by SA Rugby, where he previously served as director.
