WATCH | Zuma confident MKP will win vote rigging case

Cape Town – MK Party leader Jacob Zuma has reiterated claims that the May 29 elections were rigged, alleging the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) stole MKP votes and awarded them to other parties.

Addressing supporters during the party’s first-anniversary celebrations in Vosloorus on Saturday, Zuma announced the revival of the court case, asserting his confidence in winning and exposing those responsible.

“The people in charge of counting votes took our votes and gave them to other parties. They deprived us of a two-thirds majority. We wanted to lead the country. If we took over there would be no poverty. We have a lot of credible information. We have all the information as to what happened and who stole our votes. We have started again with the court case,” Times Live quoted Zuma as saying.

The MK Party, founded by Zuma on December 16, 2023, is set to celebrate its first anniversary this month.

Earlier the party’s Gauteng spokesperson Bafana Mahlabe said the party was not targeting the ANC or EFF for membership or growth.Speaking during an interview with Newzroom Afrika, Mahlabe said the MK party is open to everyone who resonates with its policies and people’s mandate.

“We are not necessarily targeting anyone. We [have just] opened this membership of uMkhonto weSizwe to everyone.

“Those people who are in these political parties like Busisiwe Mkhwebane, Floyd Shivambu, lately Dali Mpofu and many others is because they can relate to policies, the people’s mandate of uMkhonto weSizwe and the direction In which the party is taking,” Mahlabe said.
