Durban — The Nongoma Regional Court in Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN) sentenced a 15-year-old boy to 43 years in jail after he was found guilty of killing a school principal.
In a statement, police said the young boy stole a firearm, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and robbery with aggravating circumstances. He received his sentence last week for the incident that occurred in 2023.
“On Saturday, 22 April 2023, the teenager robbed and killed Alpheus Mphumuzeni Ntuli, who was 61 years old at the time. Ntuli, who was a school principal at Bhekintinta High School in Nongoma was reported missing on that day. When police were driving to a police station from Bhanganoma cottages where Ntuli was residing, they spotted his vehicle driving along Mkhuze Road,” police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, said.

Netshiunda said police approached the suspect, who sped off in the car, which was later abandoned. Ntuli’s body was found dumped near a river bank under a bridge at Odwaleni. His body had open wounds in the head and bruises all over his body.
“Police traced the suspect to his place of residence at kwaSnqandi in Toyisa area where he was found in possession of a firearm and ammunition which he had stolen from his grandfather. The teenager was arrested and made several court appearances before pleading guilty to all charges, leading to his sentence,” Netshiunda concluded.
